Finding beauty in the quiet moments.
Meet Korrie
My name is Korrie Dawn Iablonski. I grew up in the small town of Peace River in northern Alberta, where I developed a deep connection with flowers, animals, and the simple rituals that make a place feel like home. I feel most grounded in my cottage-style flower garden, sipping tea with a cat nearby.
By trade, I am a Registered Veterinary Technologist, and caring for animals has always been an important part of who I am. After experiencing burnout and compassion fatigue while working in veterinary medicine, I found solace in creating art. Making art became a way for me to slow down, reconnect with myself, and explore emotions that were sometimes difficult to put into words.
That experience changed the way I see art. I became more interested in the feelings a piece can evoke and the quiet stories it can hold. Through my work, I play with colour, atmosphere, and emotion to capture those fleeting feelings and create pieces that invite the viewer to pause and feel something of their own.
Where nature, feeling, and story meet.
My work is inspired by the thoughts, experiences, and feelings that can be found in florals, still life scenes, and quiet everyday moments. I am drawn to the way colour, contrast, and texture can shape the feeling of a space and add depth to the stories we associate with it. Through these elements, I explore emotions such as comfort, nostalgia, growth, and finding your way.
My background in veterinary medicine has also shaped the way I observe the natural world. I have spent much of my life paying close attention to animal behaviour, small details, movement, and the relationships between living things. That attentiveness naturally follows me into my art.
When I'm not in the studio…
you'll probably find me tending to my flower garden, drinking far too much tea, spending time with my cats and dogs, taking photographs, or wandering through the Peace River landscape looking for something that catches my eye.
